The Psychology of Mindfulness – Course Description
The Psychology of Mindfulness is proposed for the Fall 2009. The course will include the 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, plus a six weeks of academic study on mindfulness as a psychological concept.
Topic areas include:
- mindfulness and health psychology
- the anatomy of stress
- mindfulness and neuroplasticity
- mindfulness and psychotherapy
Students will be encouraged to develop their own mindfulness practice and make use of supports within the community.
