MBSR – Course Description

Jon Kabat-Zinn and his colleagues developed the MBSR program to treat chronically ill patients at the University Of Massachusetts Medical Center. The approach uses meditation, yoga and daily mindfulness activities to specifically promote mindfulness. The qualities of mindfulness deemed essential to mind-body health are acceptance, non-judgment, affect tolerance and equanimity. MBSR has been used to treat terminal illnesses, chronic pain, anxiety and psycho-physiological disorders (chronic back pain). Check out the U. Mass Site
